Automated Lending Services
Professor Bhubaneswar Behera Central Library has been fully automated with KOHA library management software. The library uses RFID automation system including self check-in & check-out facilities, and Patron Traffic Control. The other services performed by circulation section includes renewing the borrowed items, checking the damage or tear off items at the time of return, replacement, renewal of materials, and receiving of fines etc.
References Services
The Reference section of the central library houses the books which are meant to aid research by providing quick and accessible information on any particular topic. Professor Bhubaneswar Behera Central Library houses a beautiful reference collection of theses, dissertations, dictionaries, encyclopaedias, bibliographies, handbooks, standards, indexes and guides etc.
Inter-Library Loan
Prof. Bhubaneswar Behera Central Library is offering Inter library loan to its departmental seminar libraries and constituent libraries. By this facility user of department libraries can borrow materials and receive photocopies of documents that are owned by central library.
Library Orientation
Prof. Bhubaneswar Behera Central Library is conducting users’ orientation programmes from time to time to make the users aware about the resources, services, rules and regulations of library and to educate them how to use effectively the resources and services available in the library.
Current Awareness Services
Prof. Bhubaneswar Behera Central Library provides Current Awareness Service to its library users about arrivals of new book titles, journals and other reading materials from time to time.
Selective Dissemination of Information
Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI) service is a type of “alerting service” meant for individual users, mainly specialists, which is exclusively restricted to the area of interest of the user concerned. The central library, Sambalpur University has built-up necessary faculty/ users profile and providing the services as per their requirement.
Web Library Portal
Professor Bhubaneswar Behera Central Library has setup an interactive library portal. The library e-resources are well arranged with links and A to Z list. Users can browse, search and download pdf files of the subscribed resources. Also the library haves an IP based institutional repository connected with high band internet.
OPAC
The online public access catalogue, now frequently synchronized with library KOHA catalogue. The OPAC is searchable by title, author, ISBN, ISSN, and subject.
Book Display
Central library organizes book display/ exhibition at regular intervals in the library premises from leading publishers/ vendors across the country to facilitate the students, researchers and faculty members for selection of good books in their subject field.
Photocopy Services
In the ground floor of Professor Bhubaneswar Behera Central Library, a reprography unit has been setup. Users have easy access to photocopying facilities which enable them to reproduce required material from books and journals with a reasonable price.
Plagiarism Check
The university library uses Turnitin (anti-plagiarism tool) to guide students, teachers, and researchers to bank on originality of their work. The tool is helpful to detect and prevent plagiarism regardless of language. Hence, university library plays an important role to check and detect possible plagiarism and ensure academic integrity of the University.
Research Profile Management
The university library manages the research profile of faculty members, and research scholars of the university using IRINS (Indian Research Information Network System) service developed by INFLIBNET. It facilitates faculty members, and research scholars to collect, curate, and showcase the scholarly communication activities and provide an opportunity to create the scholarly network of the university.
Remote Access Services
For remotely access of the e-resources provided by E-ShodhSindhu consortium and Odisha State Higher Education Council Consortium, the university library has adopted Shibboleth, standard-based open source software under INFED and OpenAthens provided by Ebsco under Odisha State Higher Education Council Consortium respectively for authenticating authorized users of the University for Seamless Access to e-resources.
